Water Wheel

Project:  Water Wheel

Owner:  Hudson River Park Trust

Location:  Pier 66, New York City, New York

Designed to enhance the waterfront of Hudson River Park, a working water wheel was fabricated by J.C. MacElroy and placed at the end of Pier 66.  Titled, Long Time, and thought of as public art, the wheel captures the beauty of the river and is reminiscent of its shipping and milling history.

The fabrication of the water wheel began in late 2006 at MacElroy’s Piscataway facility. Constructed of stainless steel, it was built in 8 separate sections and bolted together, with a total diameter of 30 feet. In early 2007, the wheel was set in place at the end of the pier and now turns with the tide as the river flows.
